Week 9 Fantasy Match-Up

Welcome back to the Island Double Eye Show Fantasy Island podcast brought to you by the team of Sweet T, RW King, and me, Bombo. Today we'll be getting into our Week 9 Fantasy Matchup of the Week and our key storylines going into Week 9. On the Island, we say it's better to be early than late, so we will keep you one step ahead of the competition.

But first, show support by following, subscribing, dropping a like and comment. Everywhere you see Fantasy Island Podcast, that's Fantasy Island Island with two I's. Let's jump into week nine. Our fantasy matchup of the week takes us across the pond, all the way to Germany. Early morning game for us here in the States, KC versus the Dolphins in Germany.

This game is packed with fantasy stars, and if you have some of these guys, this is probably going to lead to playoff implications for your leagues. Let's jump right into it. When it comes to the quarterback position, both of these teams have elite quarterbacks for fantasy purposes and real life football.

We have Tua versus old Pat Mahomes. I'm gonna say that's a push. You could expect upwards of anywhere of four touchdown passes apiece from these guys. These guys are gonna be studs. They're gonna perform like QB1s. Can't really give the advantage to either one of them, and that's crazy to think about because it is Patrick Mahomes.

But the Dolphins offense is rolling. Casey is struggling to put a ton of points on the board, but like we said in our week eight recap, K.C. Gets a Mulligan for last week. I think they're going to come out strong. Big game from Patrick Mahomes, but I don't think Casey has anything that's going to stop Tua from having a big game.

It's a push. Both these quarterbacks are going to ball out. Don't even overthink it. You're starting them. At the running back position, I'm going to give the advantage to Miami, just because they are producing more touchdowns on the ground with Raheem Mostert. And I believe that this game though, we're going to see a little bit more Jeff Wilson involved.

Because Miami really wants to get all of the running backs involved. They believe they have the same running back, just three different guys that do the exact same thing. And that is one cut and go. Cloud of dust. I think Jeff Wilson is getting his feet back under him from being on IR.

I think we see Jeff Wilson get in the end zone this week. That's my prediction. And when it comes to the KC side, it's the Isaiah Pacheco show. I know we have the occasional C. E. H. and Jarek McKinnon vulturing of touchdowns that should be going to Pacheco.

I think Pacheco has the makings of a workhorse for KC once they start getting into the nitty gritty of their season. Uh, closer to the playoffs, we're gonna probably see way more Pacheco. So I'm gonna give the advantage to Miami Dolphins on the run game.

But you're definitely starting Pacheco. You're definitely starting Mostert. But keep an eye on Jeff Wilson as a sleeper. I have him getting in the end zone this week. At the wide receiver position, I'm just gonna call it pass catchers. With KC, it's gonna come down to Rasheed Rice. And Travis Kelsey, there's nobody on Miami that is guarding Travis Kelsey.

He's going to get his numbers. I expect a big game out of him. Even if they do something like put Jalen Ramsey on him, he's just going to eat Jalen Ramsey up. But look out for Rasheed Rice. He's coming on strong in this offense. And I think they want to get him more involved.

He's separating himself from Sky Moore and MBS. And I think it's only a matter of time before we see the Rasheed Rice breakout game. And a breakout game on KC means a 30 burger, at least. It might not be this game, but he's trending upwards. And when it comes to Miami, you're not even thinking twice about it.

You're starting Tyreek Hill. You're starting Jalen Waddle. Those guys are mainstays in your lineup. I expect big game out of them. Advantage goes to Miami. When it comes down to it, it doesn't really matter who wins the game, unless you're a Casey or a Miami fan or a better, but for fantasy purposes, an owner who has more dolphins will probably end up winning his fantasy matchup. I know KC's defense is coming on strong as of late, but I think this is going to be an offensive shootout. Both teams are going to give up a ton of points. Hopefully, for us fantasy owners, that's what we want to see.

Advantage goes to Miami, but the real winner is going to be all of us that have any stock in either one of these teams. QUickly. We're going to go through some week nine storylines for you to pay attention to, to see how it unfolds and what it's going to do for your roster and your league going forward real quick.

We're going to look at a couple of backfield shifts, potentially Houston, Houston, Texans, Minnesota Vikings. At the beginning of the year, it was clear cut. We're going to have. Damian Pierce in Houston as a starter and in, in Minnesota, we're going to have Alexander Madison as a starter.

These guys are going to be three down workhorse backs that do it all and catch passes. Here we are going into week nine, probably looking at Cam Akers and Devin Singletary leading these backfields. Devin Singletary's usage in Houston has been going up while Damian Pierce just has not been efficient.

And it looks possibly like he's falling out of favor with this regime. I don't know. We don't want to get too rumor meal with it, but it looks like Damien Pierce catching this ankle injury is the absolute wrong time because he's already got Devin Singletary on his heels eating into his carries.

Looks like Damien Pierce isn't going to be able to go in week nine. If Devin Singletary has a big game this week, we could be seeing Devin Singletary as the new, starting running back in Houston. Everything I just said about Houston also applies to Minnesota Vikings. Canmakers is slowly taking over that backfield.

This week, probably be no different with the Kirk Cousins going down. They're going to lean on the run. If Canmakers outproduces Alexander Madison, it's Canmakers backfield going forward. Book it. Another thing to look out for in week nine is the possible Bryce Young breakout game. We got Carolina versus Indianapolis, the battle of two Abysmal defenses.

I believe that has a potential to be a shootout this week. Gardner Minshew versus Bryce Young. We've seen it from other rookie quarterbacks this year. We've been waiting to see it from Bryce Young. I think Bryce Young has a great rapport with Adam Thielen as soon as he starts getting more weapons involved.

Even Tommy Trimble at the tight end position, which we've seen him get in the end zone a couple of times this year. I think if they start utilizing more of these offensive weapons for Bryce Young and give them just a little bit more time to get his passes off the Bryce Young breakout game, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen this week, watch for it.

Another Week 9 storyline. Look out for Matthew Stafford's injury because matthew Stafford seems to be the glue that keeps all of the Rams fantasy players together. Without Matthew Stafford, can Cooper Cup and Pukanukuwa continue to be top 10 wide receivers? Is that running game going to get respected without Matthew Stafford in there for Daryl Henderson and Royce Freeman?

We don't know. This is going to be a huge test for them if Stafford can't go in Week 9. So you're going to still start some of these guys, start them with a little bit of apprehension because we just don't know if the Rams come out and lay a dud versus the Green Bay Packers, then we know it's Matthew Stafford that keeps Kup and Puka on the top of the wide receiver leaders every week. Hopefully the Ramps can get it together and McVeigh can coach up Rippin or whoever they have coming in, in place of Matthew Stafford, so we can keep these fantasy players relevant. And our last Week 9 storyline to pay attention to is, the Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders fantasy season officially begins this week.

Both teams have gone through changes at the quarterback position. It's Heineke for Atlanta. It's Aiden O'Connell for the Raiders and Hopefully that unlocks Kyle Pitts Hopefully that unlocks Bijan Robinson for Atlanta. Hopefully that Finally gets us some Devante Adams, Josh Jacobs, Jacoby Myers, even Hunter Renfro fantasy relevance coming back to Las Vegas.

The Raiders gotta see what they have in the kid. They're gonna start him going forward. Jimmy G took a seat on the bench. All of his boys got, ran out of town. Patriot Way didn't work for Las Vegas. They're going with Antonio Pierce as their interim coach, who's a dog, and giving Aiden O'Connell the keys.

Hopefully that unlocks the Raiders fantasy weapons. Because Aiden O'Connell does have a better ball than Jimmy g. I just hope that offensive line keeps him upright. 'cause we could see a fantasy resurgence for Las Vegas. Same thing for Atlanta. They took the keys away from Desmond Ritter. We don't know if Heineke is the starter for Atlanta going forward. All we know is Ritter isn't playing this game. I think it's a tryout. If Heineke gets the ball to his Playmakers, who are Kyle Pitts to a certain extent. Also John U. Smith. And B. John Robinson in open space and Atlanta puts up some points, it's going to be Heineken going forward and that too will unlock Atlanta's fantasy potential.

These are just a few storylines to pay attention to in week nine. Hopefully we gave you some insight that will help you with your lineup decisions and will ultimately help you get that championship at the end of the year.
