Kareem Hunt's Second Act or Just a Fantasy Dud

Get ready for another spellbinding episode of Fantasy Island! This week, RW King and the crew are back with so much drama, it'll make the Kardashians look like a PBS special.

#NickChubb got injured? Cue the waterworks, and the sound of fantasy owners throwing their dreams into the garbage can. But don't worry, because #KareemHunt is back! Oh yeah, that guy who sat on the free agency shelf like a can of expired soup.

You think that's shocking? Hold on to your jockstraps! #CamAkers gets shipped off to Minnesota, the team currently setting the gold standard for how NOT to run the football. Cam might not be "coachable," but even a ham sandwich would improve the Vikings' ground game at this point.

We've got more injuries than a MASH episode, with a dash of drama to rival any daytime soap opera. Remember when you picked #AaronRodgers, #CooperCup, and #JonathanTaylor? Yeah, that was cute. Welcome to the world of IR, where hopes and ACLs are torn indiscriminately.

Kareem Hunt's Second Act or Just a Fantasy Dud

King: Welcome back to Fantasy Island guys. This is RW King with week three tidbits and reactions. That's right guys. We had a lot of stuff going on and popping this week and we just want to throw a little bit out there. I'm not going to throw too much stats at you, but there's a couple things going on this week and we're going to start with some big moves.

That happened. Obviously, we want to say our condolences to Nick Chubb's fantasy owners and to Nick Chubb, you know, get well Nick Chubb and you know guys remember it's fantasy football in reality. This guy is a real person and he did great things in the community and he's a great person in the clubhouse and yeah, a lot of people really rely on him and care for him and you know, well wishes to him from the Fantasy Island crew.

ng back to play with him from:

And they were like, no way. And I think that was twofold. They had Nick Chubb. They really couldn't pay Kareem hunt what he wanted or what he thought he was worth. And they drafted Jerome Ford last year out of Cincinnati. You know what I mean? And that guy's pretty good, man. He's a 5'10 210 pound guy who can fly.

So I think they knew what they had in house, and they're like, Kareem, look, dude, we're not gonna do it. He requested a trade last year. They couldn't find any takers. This year, he hung around on free agency, so I don't really know how good he is and what he's got left in the tank. You know, he came from a small college.

He overachieves a little bit, but... He was a little bit of a product of Andy Reid's offense, too. So, I don't know of really, you know, what he's gonna contribute this year. I know he's very familiar with the offense and the offensive scheme, which is probably gonna help him get some reps and some touches early.

But I think if Jerome Ford can stay on the field and stay healthy and doesn't miss blocking assignments, and that's the most important thing, he's gonna stay on the field and probably produce. NFL works, guys. It's... Next man up and these are how these guys break out and how these next stars are born. So it's curious to see how Jerome Ford's going to do myself personally.

I would definitely have rather gotten Jerome Ford on the waiver wire than Kareem Hunt. I think at this point of his career, he's going to be more of a passing down guy spelling Jerome Ford. You know, but obviously if Jerome Ford goes down, then Kareem Hunt's the guy. But I don't know what he can do given the ball, say, 15, 16 times a game.

Another move made this week was Cam Akers finally shipped out of Los Angeles. Sean McVay had enough of his shit. I mean basically the guy's just he's, he's an agitator and he got into it last year with the coaching staff, was sent home, was a healthy scratch a few weeks.

You know, they all blew each other kumbaya audit and he came back at the end of the year, did pretty good, but it started again this year after week one, he had 22 carries 29 yards and a touchdown and I'm sure the coaching staff was up his ass like a bike without a seat. The next week probably didn't react well to it and that's probably his problem.

He can't be coached and he was a healthy scratch in week two And before week three, you know, dude, you're the fuck out and basically got rid of him for nothing. They got rid of him as Bamba would say for a pizza. Because all they did was they swapped conditional 7th and 6th round picks for basically for these guys.

He went to Minnesota. Minnesota's the worst in the league in running the ball, so they needed any help they can get. They're gonna try it with Cam Akers, because I don't know what's going on with Madison, but he's just stinking it up. But they are definitely the worst rushing team in the league. So, Cam Akers, we'll see him, we'll follow him.

Cam Akers owners, I'd stash him on your bench a little bit. Not really sure what's going to happen with Madison, but I think if they made a move like that, they're going to give Cam Akers the opportunity. And I think within a couple weeks, he learns to playbook a little bit. He'll be getting 10 to 12 carries.

See how he produces, and if he does well, maybe his trajectory will go up. Keep an eye on that one as well. Big trades going on. You know, one of the other things we want to talk about, and one of the reactions in the league is all the injuries. And guys, we talked about this. Two things have to happen during a fantasy season is you have to keep your head on a swivel and you got to be on that waiver wire.

You guys got to watch that waiver wire and sort of look at it ahead of time. If you have guys that are even out for a game, just put them on that IR slot so you can pick up a guy because you never know what can happen the following week. I mean, here's an example, right? I mean, you pick up a guy or you draft a guy like Aaron Rodgers.

Cooper Cup, Jonathan Taylor, and in the first game, they're out, they're done for the season. And what's your backup plan? What are you looking at beyond that? And you always gotta keep your head on a swivel. Okay, you know, another crazy stat for you guys is, it's like we talked about, it's not always the cream of the crop that rises all the time.

Some of that stuff gets sour, bro. That cream gets sour. So think of this at this point of the season, I know it's only two weeks in, but Baker Mayfield, Desmond Ritter and Sam Howell are six and oh, but Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow and Kurt cousins are oh, and six. So there's always going to be guys, even if you have to stream a quarterback for one week, that can actually put up some decent numbers for you.

And that's the point I'm making even a Baker Mayfield, even a Desmond Ritter, Daniel Jones, whoever played him last week, tore it up. He was the number one guy in fantasy. So, there's always these guys, it just depends on the matchup and who they're playing, so keep your head on a swivel, guys, and play the matchup.

You know, hit that subscribe button, listen to Fantasy Island, we'll steer you guys the right way and hopefully we'll get you guys a league championship and that's what we're ultimately doing it for. But again, you know, like we talked about, this injury thing is just hitting hard. Running backs are going to go quick.

They're already falling like flies. J. K. Dobbins done for the year. Chubb obviously done for the year. Horrific injury on Monday night, you know, but even under that, there's some other guys that are, are, you know, Aaron Rogers down before the season started on the I. R. Cooper cup, Jonathan Taylor. These are all big name guys.

So, you know, already guys getting nicked up during the season. You got Austin Eckler. Who is status going forward is uncertain. They don't even have any understanding of what he's gonna do going after this week. And it's only on Thursday now. It's Thursday right now, so they have no question of what's gonna happen going forward.

So that position's brutal, guys. David Montgomery for Detroit. Great start to the season. Couple games, already hurt. Saquon, another big game last week. Hurt. K, here's another one, guys, that's under the radar. And be careful, Joe Burrow owners. He's got that calf thing going. I'm really worried about that. I think they just need to fix that.

Whether it's sitting for 34 weeks, whatever it is, take your lumps because those calf things lead to those Achilles pops. And I don't like an Achilles pop. Just saying you tear your Achilles like that and obviously look at Aaron Rogers. He had a calf thing going in the preseason and those things they just they're connected right there man.

It just it's the way the anatomy is. So guys, keep your head on a swivel, keep listening to the Double I Fantasy Show, hit that subscribe button, and for the Fantasy Island crew, Bombo, Sweet T, and me, R. W. King, we are out.
