Fantasy Fools Gold (guys to avoid)
Hey Fantasy iislanders, think you're a draft genius? You might want to hold off on that Hall of Fame speech. This week, Sweet T, King, and Bombo are tearing into the overrated, overhyped, and overwhelmingly disappointing players you're probably about to waste a pick on. We call it "Fantasy Fools Gold," and trust us, it's as worthless as a screen door on a submarine.
King says Bijon Robinson is as durable as a chocolate teapot. Bombo wants to know if Deebo Samuel is collecting a paycheck or just 49ers memorabilia. And Sweet T? He's here to tell you that Mike Evans' new QB, Baker Mayfield, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn—let alone a wide receiver.

Fantasy Fools Gold (guys to avoid)
Sweet T: Welcome back Islanders to another one. This week we're gonna go ahead and get into fantasy fools gold guys that you wanna avoid at all costs, and let those boner league mates of yours draft. These are the guys. They absolutely sound good. These are names within the league.
These are names that guys are gonna know, but you don't wanna draft them because it's just gonna be fools gold. You don't want them on your roster. So we got Bombo, we got King, and we got a lot of information to go ahead and get at you. So let's start off with King. King. Why don't you lead us in with your fantasy fools gold.
King: Well, I think there was a lot of guys that we talked about and obviously, you know, we'll touch on a couple guys and you know, it, it was hard, you know, 'cause there's a lot of guys out there where you look at their a d P. Where they're getting drafted at. You're just thinking to yourself, there's no way this guy's gonna fucking fulfill what he's, his projection is, first of all, and basically it's almost like the, the ranking is still being done on his name.
You know, there was a lot of guys that we talked about, a lot of guys we talked about at the meeting, but I think one of the guys too that I'm just completely, I don't understand, and I'm even gonna talk about the flip flop here. But fantasy fools gold. And this guy's a d p is in the first round. Guys, it's Bijon Robinson.
All right, stay away from that guy. Look, here's the deal. Is he talented? Yes. Is he gonna have huge games? Yes. Is he gonna last a whole season? Hell no. Okay. What rookie running backs need to last a whole season in the N F L's toughness? He does not have that. I have watched a lot of games with this guy at Texas.
He does not play hurt. He's very similar to Bree Hall. It's gonna take him a year to understand the physicality of the game, and that's what Bree Hall understood after a pretty drastic injury. So hopefully he understands how physical this game is at this level now, and it's very different. I'm hoping that Bijan doesn't have one of those, you know, dramatic injuries like that, but I just don't see him lasting a whole season for me.
I. To be honest, I'd rather take a guy like Jamir Gibbs. That's tough as nails right there. That's a guy. That's why Detroit drafted him and not Bija Robinson and move up to try to get him because you know what, man? They don't want little softie over there. They want the toughest nails guy. So I'll take that guy a few rounds later and let everybody else bite it on Bija Robinson.
I'm gonna stay away 'cause he's poison bro. He's a poison apple. Doug. I'm staying away.
, Bamba, who do you have as a:Bombo: Yeah. Staying along the lines of what King was saying as far as a d p. The biggest fool's goal will be guys that you're overpaying for when you don't really have to. And what we want to do is let you know how to be able to spot the trends, how to be able to spot, you know what, what's gonna be the future of this person in that position.
Last year was last year. The previous year was super far away. So when I'm thinking of Fantasy Fools gold, I think of Deebo Samuel wide receiver for the 49 ERs. He has a high A d p wide receiver, 17 coming off the board. But you gotta remember Deebo Samuel that we remember was with Jimmy G at quarterback question marks at quarterback question marks on far as far as what the offensive identity wanted to be.
We had to hurt George Kittle. We had a Brandon a U dropping balls, and there was no C M C. Now that we have the 49 ERs offense added, what it wants to be, we have C M C and Mitchell getting all of the groundwork kid who are the more polished route runners getting all of the receiving work because you have Brock Purdy who is a traditional passer.
Who's gonna hit the open man with and go through his progressions. He's known for it, which leaves Deebo as kind of the odd man out. Now Deebo is a great athlete, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying don't draft Deebo Samuel. I'm saying don't draft Deebo Samuel to be your high-end wide receiver two, or maybe even your wide receiver one if you go running back heavy.
Uh, he's being ranked higher than guys like Pittman Iuk, who's on his team. Both guys in Tampa, uh, DK Metcalf, and. That's pretty high for a guy that I view as the wide receiver, three on his own team, uh, he's not gonna be getting those same real high value carries in the red zone anymore. 'cause like I was saying, you have Christian McCaffrey and you have Eli Mitchell both healthy right now from what we're hearing.
No ailments, no nothing holding them back. It's gonna be a long season, but the 49 ERs know how to go with their next man up and really manage these injuries. So I, I see Deebo as being a wide receiver. Three. Finish a good flex. Don't draft them super high. Honorable mention, I'm gonna throw a guy out there, Bree Hall and throw out Dak Prescott.
Bree Hall going as running back 17. Dalvin Cook. Just got there and got paid. Followed the money with Dalvin Cook, Dak Prescott going as QB 10. We don't even really need to go into that. There's just a whole bunch of guys in front of Dak Prescott that can ball out more than that. He's going way too high.
What do you think?
King: No, I mean, I like to pick bomb boy. I mean, and I think right too, everyone is always enamored with Deebo. They always look at him like, man, this guy has these huge games and he blows up and you're right. But I think consistency and it's like you said, the only reason he had that blow up here is everyone was hurt or IU was just taking his shit. You know, you got a little better past distributor now with Purdy. We gotta see how he is. I still am hearing he's not dropping the deep ball. That's not what Deebo does anyway, Deebo, the other thing with Deebo too, man, is he gets a lot of those end rounds, but he puts his body in harm's way, bro. And I think that's a big thing when you're looking at fantasy and longevity.
'cause he's just a bowling ball and sometimes he just, he's out a couple games when you really need him and you need to stud to be on the field as much as they can. So I agree with hug Babo.
Bombo: I also think with Deebo, he benefits from really having those really big plays and those electric plays. On a Thursday night or a Monday night against the Rams
King: he's definitely, he's definitely a primetime
Bombo: He's a primetime
King: up,
Bombo: Yeah.
King: he steps up for sure. You know what I mean? And, and that's what he does, and that's why he got paid. You know what I mean? Because even look at like the N F C Championship game against the Rams. I know. I know Kiddo got that last touchdown, but that shit was on DeVos back for three quarters.
Man, you know? So, yeah, no, he's a monster. I wouldn't want to ever tackle that motherfucker. I'm just saying. I.
Sweet T: Great pick guys. I'm gonna go ahead and hit you with my, uh, quick take for that one. I'm gonna say my fantasy, fools gold is gonna be Mike Evans. Mike Evans. Don't get me wrong, the guy's got talent. We know what he brings to the table. We know what he brings to fantasy, but I got two words for you, baker Mayfield.
N said Baker Mayfield. This guy is a joke. He should be a backup. He should be out of the league. I'm sorry. I know there's some Baker Mayfield fans out there, but the guy's only got like a, a, um, a, a career 61.6% completion percentage. His passer rating is, you know, not that great. I mean, yeah, he's got moxie.
But he already has a history of not being able to throw to these big time players. He's had the likes of Odell Beckham. He's had, uh, Jarvis Landry before he fell off. When did he fall off? He fell off with Baker. Both of these guys fell off with Baker. I. You gonna tell me that all of a sudden they couldn't do anything?
So, yeah, I'm staying away from Mike Evans. That's Fantasy Fools Gold. If you wanna pick him up really, really late, uh, yeah, go ahead and do it. If he's, you know, it's late in the draft and he's still there, but I wouldn't go high with this guy at all. I wouldn't go in the first seven rounds and get any part of Mike Evans.
Bombo: I hear you. T just look at the history. I don't, I can't remember any top wide receiver that was supported by Baker Mayfield or by Baker Mayfield's. Play.
t's my fantasy. Full gold for:
